I guess that any day fishing is a good day, but the Grande Rounde has been slow this year.

Three of us fished from sun up to almost sun down. Both of the other guys lost a fish, and I lost one and caught a 7 # hatchery buck. We saw only one other Steelhead caught, a buck, all day long. The fishing is so slow that the F &W person that usually checks the river was not even there.

In four trips this year, starting in early October, through December 29th, I have only caught two fish, and the people that I go with have caught none.

The temperature started out cold, but warmed during the day. There was about a foot of fresh snow over the previous night. At the end of the day, the water started to slush up at the slower edges, so the water was extremely cold.

We did see about 30 Elk, twice the number of Deer, and overall had a great time.
