9/23/2008 6:39:00 PMI've never fished the Snohomish River by boat so I am unfamiliar with the areas. We launched south of Monroe and took a short run to what I am told was the top of the Snohomish. We fished a few spots along the river while anchored and drifting our presentations down river. Honestly I couldn't tell you where these spots were because my buddy didn't identify them by name. They were just spots that obviously held fish because they were jumping everywhere. In fact I didn't mention this in my report but one salmon literally jumped into the side of our boat and mad a loud thud. Anyway, One spot we went to he referred to by name. I want to say he called it upper rock but I'm not sure. Something rock. I was told it is a well known spot. It was a rock face that was large and goes right to the water. We casted our rigs right up to the rock face and the presentation drifted. That is where I hooked what we believe was a king that I spoke above in the report. Everywhere we fished they were jumping. I've caught hundreds of salmon in my life, all of which in salt water. It was a great experience fishing the river and I am told by my very kind friend who obviously knows what he is doing and where the fish are that we will go again soon. I can't wait!

9/23/2008 7:54:00 PMI know that spot and it's a real honey hole. I usually get to it going upstream. You must have launched at the Lewis St bridge launch, correct? I'm not aware of another launch south of Monroe but upstream from that spot - if there is one I'd love to know about it!
I had no luck in the lower river today - they were jumping but not biting. Still, great morning to be on the water. Nice fish Dave! :-)

9/23/2008 9:21:00 PMHey Mike the launch I would have to imagine that he used was the High Bridge launch. It is south of Monroe and is on the Snoqualmie River. This is a far easier launch to use than Lewis Street for a 24' sled like they were in.

9/25/2008 9:52:00 PMMallard83, High Bridge launch, that's one I'm not aware of. Can you give directions? That location would be much easier to get to that spot (yes Troutman, there is a creek there) than coming up river from Snohomish which is my usual approach.

9/26/2008 4:07:00 PMMike, If I remember correctly you live in Redmond correct? If so take Novelty Hill RD or Woodinville-Duvall RD to West Snoqualmie Valley RD and turn left (north). Follow W Snoqualmie Valley RD to Crescent Lake RD and turn right (east) which will immediately put you on a bridge over the river. After you cross the bridge take an immediate left onto the gravel drive. It is posted and you should be able to see the signs pretty clearly for the launch. This is a way closer run to this stretch than from Snohomish.
There is also another launch on the Sky downriver of Lewis Street but requires 4 wheel drive and is pretty shallow and swift. It is off of Tualco Loop RD on a farmers property.

9/27/2008 9:17:00 AMI think the Launch was near the High Bridge Road. I remember my buddy saying something about that road. I don't recall any creek flow near the rock. The water flowing there was slow and my buddy told me it is 20 feet deep near the rock. The launch we used did not require 4 wheel drive if that helps. Sorry for the lag time in my reply. Been working the last 4 days and very busy at work. I hope to go back to the river here in the next 2 weeks or so. It's one of those deals where if my buddy doesn't have a client we go. I will be fishing area 8-2 / 9 this Sunday or Monday morning at daylight. Not sure which day yet. We will be in a 21 foot Crestliner which is my other buddy at work's boat. I hope the silvers are in the salt.

9/27/2008 7:30:00 PMmallard83, Thank you, I Googled it and have directions. You know where I'll be Tuesday morning! I used to launch west of Thomas Eddy but frankly going through the snags at Thomas Eddy always made me pucker up. Guess I'm getting chicken as I get older.
