I gotta stop this bad habit -- When I didn't catch any fish, I always go back to try again and again and again. Today I went to the Langus park again. (I went to the Rotary Park first, but it was closed because of the flooding.) This is the 3rd time in past few weeks. I fished from the boat launch deck in the south part of the park. Corky + yarn + warm with a 1 oz ball sinker. But I got nothing, no bite, no nothing. I cast it out, let the water take the rig downstream and then let it sit there for a while before I reel it back in. Honestly, I'm not sure if the sinker has really touched the bottom, or if it's just lifted up by the current and hovers mid-water. But sometimes the rod tip keeps "nodding" as if a fish is biting, I guess that's a sign that the sinker is bouncing on the rocks on the bottom. Anyway, I caught a lot of leaves and lost 3 rigs this way, but there was just nothing. A very nice day today, but no fish. I've been coming to this place from Bellevue for nearly 10 times this season, but all I got was some bullheads and one little trout. And ever since October, I didn't get even a bite. I will keep going but I'm also really frustrated and don't know what to do. Any advise?

Yeah, find someplace where you at least see somebody else catching some steelhead. For starters, I'd try Reiter Ponds above Gold Bar. You can see some guys catch some fish (which at least gives you some confidence that there's something around), and you can soak in some new techniques, ask some questions. Your tackle sounds like it's more suited for Plunking (except for the worms), and it's a good time to expand your repertoire of techniques. And if you're driving from Bellevue, it's about the same distance. Look for areas with other anglers, they are there for a reason. Maybe stop by Three Rivers Marine and ask for some help with your set-up. Go the the Sportsman's Show and attend a Steelheading seminar. Lots of opportunity around to learn about steelies, and to start catching a couple of fish.

Reiter Ponds? Heard of that place before. Does it have a lot of steelhead? Thanks for the tips, I'll look for it more on the net and this web site. Thanks again.

I would go up river a ways........at least to thomas eddy or even above there up on the sky.....your odds of catching will improve greatly........also dont be affraid to hit the wallace river......behind the hatchery is a great option

I registurd here just to tell you that you can get a much better deepriver/fast water plunk rig than what you are running by google searching "plunkin for steelhead".
Beyond that- I have learned by mistake, advice, old lore, best wishes, misadventure, good advice, bad advice, watching others and copycating, and pure improv. I still havent caught a steelie and am not quiting any time soon. Look into drift fishing and working dink floats/lead heads/bait combos. Fish it all well and maybe it will all fish well eventually?
