3/31/2009 7:59:00 AMI normally don't fish in water that cold. I have read that slow presentation baits like jerk baits and In line spinners that can be slowed way down is best for this time of year. I have also read that is the fishing is tough you should use smaller baits in cold water and that will get some reaction strikes. I also threw some spinner baits as well and bounced them off the bottom real slow.
chinookslammer,
I put in at old town and ran up as far as the usk plant and man was it cold. Still looks like winter up there. The west side of the river still has a foot of snow in places. I heard that on Sun they got 4 more inches of new snow too. The spawning season will be way late this year if this keeps up.
