Awesome day of fishing on the river. There were four of us and we caught 4 pikes total. The fish all measured between 26" to 31". We started around noon and the action lasted until the evening. Caught some largemouth and smallmouths here and there just off of worms. One of my cousins caught a largemouth at 16" and maybe around 2-3 lbs. It wasn't until 5pm that we decided to go for pike. We used some sunfish and bass patterned crankbaits and cast near the shore. The pikes were mostly concentrated in one spot where schools of sunnies and small bass were. The pikes stayed near the grassy areas. My first cast I actually pulled in a 30 incher. Not too long after that I had another one and it was at 27". At the exact spot using an orange sunfish pattern crank my cousin landed a nice pike at 26". We also had a couple of bites after that but they came off the line. The last pike was caught by my other cousin and was the fattest and bigger one of the four at 31". We stopped fishing at around 8pm. Caught plenty of fish that day. We let a lot of the small bass go and kept only the 16 incher. Kept all four pikes for dinner and were real happy. I know i was because i caught two nice ones. Make sure to use a crankbait with a bright orange or yellow belly because thats what seemed to work best for us. Good Luck!
