Put our pontoons in at the Vista Park landing. Water clarity was poor there. Three pontoon boats fishing for trout/panfish. Started with rooster tails. No bites. Creek flow was slow, so we rowed upstream past the town of Skamokawa. at about 100 yards above town the creek cleaned up nearly crystal clear. We had switched to worms at that point. My son was using split shot and a worm on a hook. He caught a 12 inch rainbow on a worm. I was using a worm rigged on a beetlespin jig, and caught a 10 inch trout which shook off about 3 feet from the boat. No big deal, the river is catch and release only. These were the only two fish caught over five hours. Fishing not so great. Perfect weather and an eventually clean creek were worth the fight. I'm pretty disgusted that the water gets so nasty in town...what's dumping there?
