Went fishing for humpies early this morning on the Skagit in Mount Vernon on the sandbar. There were people next to us that caught 17 pinks. They landed them almost as fast as they casted out.

My son and I didn't do as well. But we caught 2 good sized pinks, and barbecued one tonight. It was delicious, very bright.

The favorite bait was sand shrimp. The best lure was a spinner deal - color green with pink ends. I forget what it is called, but acorn shaped with a thing that spins with the current.

Pictures are coming - my son will upload.

Great day, and we will be there again tomorrow at 5:30AM. Hope to see some of you there.

Whoever was next to you that caught 17 pinks were illegally taking the fish. You can only keep 2 pinks and 2 additional. People like that is why we have strict rules in Washington. What a DISAPPOINTMENT!!!!

Keeping more than 4 pinks per rod is illegal, catching & releasing more than limit is legal. I am not sure it was indicated in the original post that all fish were kept.

Whoa guys. The family next to us had 5 fishermen, with licenses - a dad and his 2 sons and 2 stepsons.

The word people is plural... As in more than one person. We didnt see anyone breaking any regulation either day we have been there. The other people out fishing were not only fishing legally but they were also incredibly nice and helpful. The 5 guys with 17 fish (their limit is 20 for those of us counting) went out of their way to walk over to us and tell us and show us how they were getting em. They even gave us some of their tackle and it got us fish. THERES GOOD PEOPLE OUT THERE. Relax. Go fish. Have fun.
