Headed to thomas eddy for the first time. got to the river about 11:00 and the parking lot was packed. Spent the next 5 hours without a single bite. Worked the river from the eddy to about 3/4 mile downstream. Used sandshrimp, pink buzzbombs, jigs, spoons. Not one bite. I did see people catch fish, and they were surfacing everywhere. Here's the picture - a 20 ft strectch of shoreline with 15 people crowded arm to arm casting into what must have been a hole. The rest of the shoreline was empty. I passed on the combat fishing, but have no fish. Not my kind of fishing. I did catch some weird looking dogfish/ sculpin sort of fish that I didn't want to touch. Saw a snake in the rocks on the shore, and an otter in the river. It seemed most of the fish were just passing though and not stopping to eat.

dogfish / sculpin? kind of an odd combination as they don't look anything alike eachother.

Most likely a Sculpin I have been catching a lot of them while fishing the shore near Bob hierman park. I have hooked 7 pinks and only managed to land one, not my year I guess. My Buddy is there right now and he has landed 3 pinks.

head was like a dogfish but spiny like a sculpin. I pulled it out of the water and it wouldn't let go of the sandshimp, even though it wasn't hooked. it was dark olive green with some spots on it's back.
