My wife and I just back from Banks Lake on 9/28. We were there from 9/23. Fishing was slow and most of the guys were out after wall’s and small mouth. Dave, where we were camped out in our RV, at the Playland Resort recommended that we troll cranks at 20 feet with a lead weight and a three-inch leader for the crank, was right. We hit the trout in a big way. I almost stopped fishing as my wife kept hauling up some great 18 to 24 inch trout until limit time. We did the same thing the next day. We fished the inlet to the Grand Coulee to about ¾ of a mile south on the west side of the lake, simply trolling. We had a great time and now a freezer full of some of the best eating trout I have ever laid a fork into. Wally fishing sucks and surprisingly it appears, believe it or not, the small mouths are trying to spawn (in the fall), weird. By the way, we were the only ones who caught trout in the last 2 weeks as far as the people at Playland knew. I understand when the water begins to cool, that fishing will really be great over the next 5 weeks. WISH I COULD BE THERE!
