Had to do an errand near Kent so decided to visit the Green River for a quick fishing trip.

Started off near North Green River Park (across from soccer fields). Water was pretty shallow (compared to the Stilly where I usually fish), so I shorted my leader from 6 ft to 2.5 ft and went w/ a 3/8 oz weight instead of 1/2 oz. Kept the neon pink corky and yarn setup. I landed about 7 pinks within an hour, but only 2 were in the mouth. The male humpies were what I’d called “zombie fish” (see picture). The hens were okay, but I decided against keeping them not only because they were foul hooked, but the stench from all the dead “fungus fish” really turned me off.

Next, I drove a couple of miles down Green River Road to Isaac Evans Park and caught 3 pinks in less than half an hour, but only 1 (decent looking hen) was in the mouth. The other 2 were males and also decent looking, but I wouldn’t have kept them even if they weren’t foul hooked since my freezer already has plenty of pinks. No stench at Isaac Evans Park. I’d gather that the pinks are still in okay shape further upriver given how much better the fish here looked compared w/ those downriver near North Green River Park.

No silvers in sight at either location or a couple of stops in between where I just stood by the road to look for those "chrome floppers." Hopefully, the heavy rain forecasted for next few days will bring some silvers in though I’ll probably head up to the Stilly to fish for them unless I see reports of silvers being caught on the Green over the next week.

You should try drifting eggs, that's how I've been getting them lately.

@losaturn, I'll try eggs (orange color okay?) next time. My photo didn't upload successfully w/ the post, so I uploaded to http://twitpic.com/lgf0f in case you want to see what a "zombie male humpie" looks like. :-)

Looks like a fair amount of rain tonight. I need to decide whether I should go to the Stilly or the Snohomish this weekend to try to land some silvers. I think that it'll be next week before decent number of silvers are on the Green - at least that's what I'm hoping for.

I've never tried orange eggs, but they might work. The ones I've been using have been cured in Pro-cure Red Hot.

Yeah, baits been legal from 277th down since the beginning of the month. Many sections of the lower river have been open to bait earlier than that. The section I've been fishing over by Costco has been open since October 1. Just thought he might like to know what has been producing well for silvers, if he were to fish the lower river.
