got up this morning at 12 am and headed to the cowlitz with a few friends, we got to the river at 2 am and fished blue creek above the boat launch. We glo-balled it until 630 am without a single fish on, besides the cutthroat that my buddy brought to the bank then got off, he thought he just had a stick on. With only a few hits, the action today was very slow. besides globalls, i tried tossing sand shrimp with the same results. did not hear of anything caught while we were there, but everyone else was fishing down river. Will definantley be back to find that steelie i am looking for

Thanks for the report. It had to be a little cold. I know the last time I was there everything turned white at 11:00 pm. Outside temperature was in the high 20's. Noticed while fishing at night that the glo balls gives off a faint color. Do small glo sticks (1") wrapped in a yarn ball give to much light? Just wondering. Just dont like turning on a light to charge the glo ball even for a moment. I am a newbie to night fishing. It is Fun, especially when there's a fish on.....

surpisingly it was not very cold around 47 degrees, seemed like it should have been a good night. you should get a camera flasher it charges your globall in a quick flash. i too am fairly new to glo balling, and steelhea fishing in general. it was a good day to practice my technique and get familiar with a good steelhead river.

Use a camera flash cup your glow ball in your hand turn away from the river and flash it 2 - 3 times. Try a few diff colors on the glowballs brian. I just got mine same area you was in and tossed 5 different colors of glowballs. Then tried yarn and glow balls. Finally 2 different colors and some peach yarn shrimp smelly jelly and mikes anise oil did it. I mean what a combo. But camera flash is the best thing to light up corkies.
