Aaron and I went out for a day trip with Keven Samuelson, a guide for The Evening Hatch Guide Service for a day of fishing and video shotting. As our luck would have it, a front moved in and the Seattle area was eveloped in rain and high winds, with snow in the passes. But the Yakima river was a different story. We had a day of sun, clouds, rain, warm, and cold. We also caught a fair number of fish and lost a few as well. I caught around six ranging 10-14" and lost several nice ones, while Aaron's fish of the day was a 23" brute. I also caught a nice whitefish, picture (great fight). We alternated between nymphs under an indicator and floating flies. Keven was an expert on the river and had a great knowledge of the spots to fish. Definately a wonderful day on the water, my first in awhile. I'll be back!

Looks like a lot of fun...a 23" is a biggy in my book, and especially for the Yak!

It was impressive and Aaron did an outstanding job of not losing the fish, especially considering the 4 lb? tippets we were using.

Great job Mike. I visited the same shop on my last trip a few weeks ago he was a ton of help. They really know this river. Glad to see you had such great luck. Nothing like a relaxing trip in a drift boat. Aaron... Post it up! :)

I added hotspots to show the general locations. If you're not a Premium Member, it was the area just down from Ellensburg.
