Ran out to my spot on the way home from work up in Duvall. Ran a Gibbs dink with sandshrimp and orange deadweight/yarn like usual. Third cast, bobber down! Fish on! Turned out to be a nice 8lb hatchery hen, lovely fish, great fighter!! Still had lots of sea lice on her, probably from that very day outa the salt! Fished for about 2 more hours and went through a dozen sandshrimp with no more takers. Had my bobber dive 2 more times but didn't hookup, assume it was bottom or shakers. Overall another wonderful day on the river. Water is still up high, but bait under a float is producing so how could I complain :)

Tight lines.

Hey Matt congratulations, you've got the Sky metal dialed in! When your fishing the high water with a float, what is your set-up? I have had good success fishing a float/jig combo on smaller water but the bigger heavier flows intimidate my float/jig. So, not to offend...I usually fall back to drift fishing.

rseas, I run either a slip bobber with a bobber stop and 1/0 hook with a cheater weight over it and run the stop down to about 6" off the bottom, or so that the hook hits bottom about 2 times through the drift. OR I run a Gibbs style dink float like the one you see up in the tree. They are a set float so a little different to use. I run that with a 1/8-1/4oz bullet weight and bead below it then a snap swivel, 14" of leader, then the cheater weight/yarn/hook and bait then do the same thing, fish it about 6" off the bottom. The slip bobber is best for deep water over about 8-10feet the Gibbs is good for water up to 5 Feet but not deeper than that as the leader gets way to long. Hope this helps, PM me for more info.

Very nice! I need to get out there one of these days. I'm afraid if I go I'll get the steelhead fever!
