9/9/2010 7:00:00 PMGet a boat? Just kidding. Ya some fisherpeople can be quite... Uh... Intimidating? Especially in the 'combat' fishery areas (heavy crowds often heavily/exclusively? male). I have a 7 year old daughter and my wife is pretty small. It is real tough finding a place where I can actually let my daughter fish for salmon and enjoy watching her w/o worrying about us getting shouted off an area and my wife doesn't fish any more (partly the intimidation factor). At least trout fishing still works. Maybe you can try to get a feel for the crowd and talk with some of the less aggressive guys. Certainly not always the case but sometimes the older guys are more mellow. Good luck out there, thanx for reporting in.

9/9/2010 8:44:00 PMIf you are going to fish the high tide fish it late in the evening and use a size 5 chartreuse color vibrax. My favorite is the one called fire tiger. Most of my bites come right before dark and that seems to be my most productive color in that river. It is easier to catch fish during low tide though. Try walking up past the first couple of holes and there usually isn't quite as many people fishing each hole especially during the week if you can go then. Good luck!

9/10/2010 5:57:00 PMI wore ear plugs & "cowboy" & his friends voices were just tolerable. Everyone is very cooperative when you hook a fish. If you have never fished there: try it because it is a real education in communication. Kinda took me back to my days in the core.

9/18/2010 3:57:00 PMI would agree, high tide and a #4 or 5 Vibrax spinner in chartruese for chinook or silver or brass for silvers! Less crowds and people are more likely to let you play your fish. You had better be running 50# + line at low tide, when those guys hook one they just start walking backwards and drag it out of the water, barely any "fight".... I will go as light as 12# test for silvers with spinners it's awesome, get your drag adjusted right and enjoy!!
