it says nothing about releasing native coho in the river

Don't know what the regs are on that river but that is a native coho(it's called an adipose fin,intact). I'm tired of all the poaching going on. Up on the Stilly I saw 6 small Kings filleted out just lying by the boat launch in tidewater. The river is closed for Kings.

I think the reg is pretty clear on this one on Green River.

I'll be the first to admit I'm a novice to the salmon fishing game, but I try to read the regs. Can anyone name a river that allows you to keep native (wild) salmon of any type? Seems to be a general rule that I've read. If it's wild, it's protected.

To all: He states he caught it at 112th st. which is above 1st avenue S bridge, which puts it into the 1st section of the Green/Duwamish regs. (from 1st Ave. South Bridge to OLD HWY 99/Tukwila Intl. Blvd.). That section reads: "SALMON - Sept 1-Dec. 31 - Min size 12". Daily limit 6. Up to 3 adults may be retained. Release CHINOOK." According to the regs, he was legal to keep that fish.

I think what some fail to realise is that there are two "Green Rivers". The one he was fishing at is in King County, not the one in Thurston. Like Gringo posted, it's legal.

Nice catch King. I have been over by Boeing 112th st. Walking bridge t hats the spot your talking about ? I have had 2 hook ups but yet to land . My net man has been on vacation and pulling them on shore is pretty tuff there. I snapped a leader bringing one up to rocks under bridge it was a beauty too. They run like crazy to fun fish to catch. Don't listen to all the negative bs posts they just like to knock people off there high horse because they cant catch anything !!!!!

yup this man is legit i read the reg book. he's in between the old hwy99 / tukwila blvd to i-405.... area (746) it clearly says min size 12" daily limit 6 up to 3 adults may be retained RELEASE CHINOOK!!!! nothing about about any wild species.... next time b4 flaming the man... try reading your books first. King me 206 good job n keep up the good post.......... for those that don't believe me break out your reg books and flip out to page 41. green/ duwamish and read for yourself!.... i think as u get down 2 the cowlitz county thats where the release wild come's into play. page 53 area (565)

from the way i read it . .. you have to release chinook period. says limit of three adults.. that means three silvers. wild or hatch. If you had to release wild coho it would state that in the five different sections for the green in the rule book. f

Thank goodness some pics are starting to show the coho in the lower Green DO exist and more importantly hit something LOL. Nice chrome!

My apologies to KingB. Great catch and a better job of knowing the regs on your river. Unlike some, I'm man enough to admit my mistakes and realize this is one. As for poaching, in my neck of the woods( Snoho/Skagit counties) you see it every day such as the 6 Kings I found filleted out and dumped in the Stilly the other day. KINGS. CLOSED. PERIOD!! Many Sturgeon were foul hooked and kept over the objection of sportsmen last season. Verbal altercations were the rule of the day and some not so veiled
physical threats were tossed about( some were even carrying sidearms). Come on. We are supposed to be having fun. As for not being able to catch fish? I've caught so many(tons c & r) over the last 50 or so years, I now sport my own set of gills.

Duwamish/green wild coho and wild chum, puyallup wild coho and chum, sky wild coho, skok wild coho and chum, nisqually wild coho and chum this is just to name a few. There is copies of rule books in all sporting good stores and online. I would suggest that everyone read them. If you are gonna get on someone know the rules before you try to quote the rules. Nice fish I plan on gettin a few myself this weekend.

Well expected a couple comments but I guess that ain't the case. Wow at first for a split second I thought I really screwed up. Then I thought there isn't know way I missed that in the regs. This is my local river read those darn regs on the green all the time to make sure I'm fishing in compliance with the regs. Already have been checked down on the green by the lady, she wore a camo jacket and pants and came out of the bush's very sneaky. All i know is that, If I was going to comment on another persons post about any regulations I would check the regs as I was doing the comment just to make sure I was completly 100% sure before I submit it. Nothin like a forum fight thanks for the back up everyone and good luck.

Also was about to logoff and remembered on a punch card why would they put a H for hatchery and a W for wild if you never could keep a wild salmon on any of our rivers.

LOL KiNg, I think some are probably just jumpy cuz there aren't many fish showing yet in the local rivers. Considering how many waters no natives are allowed to be retained it makes sense to me that there will be knee jerk 'hey that's a nat and can't be kept' comments. The good is we are all on the same page and you are NOT in trouble ;-) Thanx for the fish pic. Keep 'em coming if you can. The Green and Puy have been slow with people showing fish caught unfortunately.

Wow, let me put this in a nutshell: 1) The regs are far to convoluted to be clearly understood, and 2) it wont matter soon anyway, cuz we wont be able to fish for nothin.

page 41, puget sound rivers, duwamish, release chinook, lawful to retain wild coho.............. keep em and eat em! AWESOME CATCH!

Nice catch! Glad to see there's finally starting to be some action from these silvers! Now if only we could start seeing some pics from up here north a bit! Like out of the Snoho and Stilly! Finally starting to hear whispers from all over though!
