I fished the Stilly for a couple hours on the way home from work on Tuesday afternoon. I threw every color combination of corkies and yarn possible and I also fished a couple different spinners with no luck. I did have a couple solid hits but no fight to show for them so they don’t count. The time was not without its interesting moments; a boat with a couple guys in it had got caught in the current above the diversion dam and flipped the boat as they went over. They were OK but lost all their gear, backpack keys and phones. When I talked to them they were trying to find their backpack. I also talked with a gentleman up by the diversion dam and he said that the tribal research biologists found 200+ fish in the trap Tuesday morning. It seems that the fish are trickling in just are not in catchable numbers yet. I’ll keep trying and soon limits will be the rule.

I was fishing the downstream drift from the farm field parking. At one point I did wade across the river and walk up to talk to the guys who flipped their boat. While up there I made a few casts downstream of the boundary line but a majority of my time was spent two gravel bars downstream from the diversion dam. Although I have 5 or 6 favorite holes, if I am stopping while driving to and from business appointments I usually fish that stretch of river.
