I rated this a 4 because I finally caught my first Coho ever, I guess I should have rated it a 5 as I won't forget this.
Was on the river at daylight from Langus, motored up just past the float plane in the river, and started trolling Wiggle Warts (red, then green, six foot leader and 1/2 oz lead - thanks to John Martinis (John's Sporting Goods) for this info). I'm pretty sure they have names but I don't know them. After trolling all the way to Snohomish I turned around and was headed back downriver when I saw one jump (less than a half mile below the hiway 9 bridge). I did a U turn, dropped my gear in the water, and made her mad enough to hit the lure.
After hooking up, the boat drifted towards her and she swam towards the boat so there wasn't all the jumping and running that I had thought there might be. However, as I was by myself, it must have been interesting to watch me trying to hold onto my pole with one hand and use the net with the other. I missed on the first attempt and then got her to swim towards the boat and into the net on the second.
If I read the tape and scale right, the hatchery hen was 27" and 9 lbs. Anybody have a good recipe for curing eggs?
