Going fishing there saturday to catch my first salmon (its about time). Is it true that these chums really are everywhere and are easy to catch? This is what I here from alot of people.

knotabassturd if your looking to get into some chum they pass the soos creek and keep going up towards flaming guyser state park some coho pass the hatch to. Nickbell , the chum fishing in the upper green is kinda like the puyallup pink fishing was . When the schools are coming up the fishing is hotuse green and red yarn and corkys with like 5' -6' leader and you shall slay them good luck!

Do you think chartreuse yarn and red corkies will work? Because those are the only colors I have on me at the moment.

IMHO, turning chums are the BEST for smoking due to oil-point. . . also, the roe is amazing. It is main part of cost-recovery at old hatchery i lived at in Prince Williams Sound. The Japanese buy it all up 12-15 plane loads a day during egg-take!

The Green is closed for Salmon above Highway 18 (flaming geyser) until Monday. Thanks for the report.

F.Y.I.; Jake Dogfish.. According to the 2010/2011 Sportfishing Rules Pamphlet, pg. 41, Green/Duwamish states; "from the S. 277th Bridge to Auburn-Black Diamond Rd. Bridge...is OPEN for Salmon Oct.16-Dec. 31st". "From Auburn-Black Diamond Rd. Bridge to 1/2 mile downstream of Tacoma Headworks Dam...is OPEN Nov. 1-Dec. 31st". I follow regulations and do my research out of respect for our sport.

Jake Dogfish good point- just to clarify as snake pointed out, it is open up to the Auburn-Black Dmnd bridge (which is the last of the 3 bridges going upstream). So technically you can fish upstream of Hwy 18 bridge and be OK (just a little upstream obviously).

Good point to bring to people's attention in case people head out there (to fish up to the top bridge but not beyond). And good point Snake7676 for giving the exact verbage so we are all in the clear when fishing.

Oh ya, chartreuse/green is a great color for chum IMO nickbell. Not too sure about red.
