Haven't seriously been out steelhead fishing in about 5 years so I decided to throw my gear into the car and head out after work. Went to Reiter Ponds just below the hatchery with about 30 other guys...more than I typically like to fish around but I saw a few people hooking up so I decided to make a few casts. Never been a bobber and jig fisherman before so I figured what the heck may as well give it a shot. Drifted it out by a large rock and the bobber went down...snag, dang! Then the snag started shaking its head. Got it to shore and had my first steelhead in 5 years on the beach, a buck about 7 pounds. NICE! Though about heading home then but decided to fish for a while more. About 10 minutes later by the same rock the bobber went down again, set the hook into my second steelhead of the day! Got that on on the beach and it was a carbon copy of the first. Punched my card, gathered up my stuff, talked to a few guys on the way out and was on my way home in about 30 minutes. Shortest and best day steel head fishing I've ever had.
