Spent the day on the skookumchuck with my brother. Had a blast, the river was up, visibility was down and the fish were in. Went yesterday morning, as I had business in Olympia, and broke off a BIG bright steely, was going to go to reiter with my brother, but opted out and for the extra hour drive because there were still COHO, chrome, a=bright an shiny. You had to weed out through the boots to get to 'em, at least where I was at, but it was a blast. I caught 14 fish today, ten silvers, one jack silver, a big whitefish, a BIG cutthroat and a beautiful buck chrome steelhead. Wild coho retention is closed now on the skook, but I caught a bunch of hatchery fish too. I was saving out for getting a hen for the eggs, so I let 'em all go, all the hens I caught were wild, caught a lot of big bucks too though. I did manage one chrome hatchery buck yesterday. In december! That was really neat, apparently the Skook has a later run than I thought.

The steely weighed out at six pounds, I'm still kicking myself for losing the other steelhead yesterday, which was at least three times that size. fought very hard danced up and down and got itself lost down the current. The fish were feisty! Ran straight at you and than tail danced to the far side of the river. I caught 'em drifting a big wad of eggs with a giant wadded up bit of bright orange glow yarn slowly through the frog water. visibility was very low, they needed the extra stink and flash to get their attention. Before we left the river in the last hour befoer dark it started to go up higher, so more water was coming down. Great day on the water. My brother and I both caught numerous silvers. not a lot of folks were down there, but the stories loose now.
