The next, your forced to enter the creek/river to possibly save your puppy because of the ignorance of the jogger and his dog? Then, the joggers ignorance stoops to a lower level by threatening you. Has this dude been a bully all his life? Certainly, accepting responsibility was not embedded in his early years. Idiot and Stuuuuuuuupid come to mind.. The fact that your dog took to water for the very first time due to fear, indicates he or she was in full panic/surviver mode. I sincerely hope your dog isn't severely affected by this unnecessary incident.

2/6/2011 6:55:00 PMWingnut, Sorry to hear about that! My Wife and I also have a westie and have had FOUR run ins with unleashed pitbulls and our dog. The most recent was at Christmas time while snowshoeing at Gold Creek. I don't know why these folks can't keep these type of dogs leashed. (Well, maybe I do know)

2/8/2011 9:30:00 AMThanks for the concern guys. We filed a report with King County Animal Control, but without knowing the name of the owner there's not much they can do. They're going to keep the report on file in case we can spot the guy again and get a license plate or some other way to ID him, or in case somebody else files another report with the same description. I guess I need to go fishing there more to see if the SOB comes back.
Our dog is ok physically, but he is freaked out by other dogs now. He barks at any dog he sees, and tries to snap at them if they get too close and he can't run away. Unfortunately, we'll have some work to do to get him back to normal.

2/9/2011 4:57:00 PMI think a bat, steel toed boots and a tazer gun. I`m thinking more for the owner and kind of for the dog. Unfortunately, most of the time it`s the upbringing of the animal that makes them how they are. I`m glad your dog is OK.
