Made only our second trip up to the PO river this year for some Pike action and it just wasn't there today. Got on the water at the Cusick launch at 2 pm and headed down to all of our usual hot spots towards Usk. Davis slough normally produces some nice Largemouth and Pike for us, only one smallmouth, and Bunny slough which produces a dozen or so 4-8 lbers only one small one in the boat (our younger son's first). Water temps were the perfect low to upper 60's. The wake restriction was still in effect so it took forever to get to each spot. Bunny slough produced a 3 lb largmouth for me, and I missed a few bigger one's with a frog chatterbait in the grassline. All in all a nice and rare day out on the river with our younger son, always great to see him catch some fish, the wife got skunked though, which is rare. We did notice the Davis launch is accessable, should've put in there, would've given us some time over in dead cow slough... Happy fishin!

I just got off the phone with PO county. The no wake has now been lifted. Sounds like you should have gone north. I went north of Cusick and released 15 pike and one nice largemouth. In one location, they were absolutely STACKED up. I saw 7 fish over 5lbs in an area the size of my boat. Happy Fishing

Hey, can't complain about being out fishing! It beats being at work! Congrats to your son on his first Pike!

Yea! Thanks for the info Mark, I thought about going north, but didn't want to go upstream coming back in the evening, thought about how long the trip back would have been but found out it was a long trip back from Bunny slough anyways, 45 min, man, was I tempted to put the hammer down! Also, just trying to get our younger son into catching some fish, started with plastic's, now with spinnerbaits/chatter baits, which I had allot of success with last year on the smaller fish, just wanted a couple good eating ones and to get my son the feel of how to set the hook (like I'm an expert on that, I still miss fish). We didn't get into the jerk baits, swim baits, crank baits and spoons, I'm holding that for hopefully another outing. Would've been nice to take you up on your Saturday offer but we had our 3 grandson's Friday evening into all day Saturday, so we needed a break Sunday!
