Took the kids and wife up to Clear Lake, a pretty little reservoir surrounded by pine trees in the Wenatchee Heights area. Arrived at the lake around 2 PM and had two limits by 4:30 PM. Fish were all rainbows between 8 and 12 inches - with 8 to 9 inches being the average.
We did see one guy hook and catch a beautiful four pound Rainbow. There were 100 of these 1.5 to 4 pd fish planted prior to the opener this year.
Powerbait was the hot ticket, with "Captain America" pattern being the best one we used. The trout were not interested in spoons and spinners. There was a good amount of surface activity. A flyrodder in a float tube would have probably enjoyed this lake today.
Temp was about 65 degrees. No wind, mostly sunny. About 30 anglers spread out around the 5 acre lake. A good opener.
