We got out on the Snoho around 4:30 and did some fishing from shore. I was able to catch two, which was a lot of fun. One actually jumped out of the water like a dolphin. Both were bucks with some fight to them. While cleaning one of them I noticed a, slightly smaller than a golf ball, fatty mass on the inside left side. I cut it out and using my best high school biology examimed it. It appeared to be fat, but I am not sure and am wondering if I should smoke the meat as intented. The fish looked good overall, fought well and nothing seemed amiss other than the unpleasant blob.

Has anyone seen this before or know what it may be? Is the fish safe to eat? Any info/comments welcome.

Of course I didn't get a picture.

Really? So then that just keeps growing until it forms a hump?

As a commercial fisherman I have cleaned thousands of coho and a few humpies, one finds strange growths in many of them....Just cut it out and use the fish as you normally would!
