9/5/2011 8:00:00 PMNice report, Mike! Also try tossing Dick Nites, I have been having great success using them in the lower river. I feel like the fish are seeing a lot of pink jigs and the DNs are a great change of pace for them. Either pink, or 50/50 pattern. Other bonus is coho will nail them too!

9/5/2011 9:27:00 PMHi Mike, sorry to hear about your frustrating trip but it's good to hear you boated 3 nice fish. We harvested all 36 of our fish over 4 days using a pink squid jig, nothing else and on that same jig we easily caught just as many that we released not to mention too many to count that we lost. I watched others toss buzz bombs and spoons and they weren't catching fish or they would pick up one or two over several hours time. I also saw folks trolling and picking up the occasional fish but nothing impressive. I will email you a pic of the jig we used.

9/5/2011 9:27:00 PMlower snohomish river up to the town of Snohomish is fine. There are snags and pilings to watch out for, but it's pretty safe. Tons of boats out there today of all sizes. Including one moron running a 36 ft boat up to Snohomish under full power, talk about a wake. I feel sorry for the guys in the 10 ft boats when that guy went by, ouch!

9/6/2011 7:41:00 AMi've been use'n a "squidy thang" in the 'ol "Stoney Creek" (hahaha) ... think Kok gear ... and if your mini pink squid dont have eyes on 'em .. sharpie 'em on !!!.. we proved that 1 ... we also had luck with the clear UV squid .... i'll try 'n get the TEKY KID to upload a pic of it ... rig starts with a weedless hook !! with it's barb filed down ... then i trim the tip of my squid (hard to explain) leave'n a strip/flap that gets folded over and threaded down the line (i use a sew'n needle) .. so the line goes through a double layer of plastic ... slide that down to above the knot/eye with the squid cover'n most of the hook (on some i super glued a few strands of sparkle to the hook shank) .... add a small bead (usualy a glow) then a small egg colored corkie then another bead and then a metalic small corkie ... ending the stack with a small bead and a smiley ... at the river i decide how much weight to add and crimp on a split shot ... i put it in the middle of the stack of beads leave'n about a 1/2 inch of line from it to the next bead ... the space lets the lower parts have a lil action and the bigger hole in the squid alows a lil water to flow through it .... last step is to add some scent to the inside of said squid .. i use shrimp/gel a lot buttt ... get a lil scoop of PASTE BAIT !!! on the tip of your knife and stick it in the squids butt 'n roll it between your fingers to smear it around ... works great ... makes me 1 of them dang power bait fisherpersons eewww .... this rig is easy to cast on light gear and you can let it sink then pick it up but let it stay in contact with the bottom as it swings with a slow crank on the reel ...... with the weedless hook i dont lose much gear ....... cept when instead of a pink mr king or silver slams my 8lb test !!!! ....... went 1 for 5 on those the other day .. spool'd once lolol ... TIGHT LINES 'N STRONG KNOTS ... DOG
