Put on a fishing clinic today on the Duwi and the upper green. Hit low tide/incoming tide early in the morning. Fish all over the place but could not get a biter to save my life. Same goes for everybody around me. I thought to myself these are pinks this shouldnt be so hard. So i started going thru the arsenal one by one. Hand tied jig nothing, squid jig nothing, spinner nothing, spinner with hoochie nothing, then ole' reliable the 50/50 dick nite and game on. First cast fish on! For the next 45 minutes it was fish after fish and went 9 for 12 and 5 good bright keepers. 2 of the pinks had inhaled the little spoon as it was hooked deep in the throat. I was the only person out of 12 or so who caught any fish and i suddenly became very popular. A couple guys tried to act casual and sneak by to see what i had. Others not so much, one guy actual picked up my rod to look at my setup while i was bleeding a fish.

The tide came in and the fishing died off fast so i moved up river. I found a killer hole filled with fish. This time a homemade hoochie jig was the ticket. What was awesome is that the fish were in shallow and i could sight fish them. I love watching them chase or mouth at lures. I could drop the jig infront of a fish, give it a twitch, watch him take it, and set the hook as it disappears in its mouth. It was a blast and again i was the only one landing fish out of 8 guys. I caught and released 8 fish and just missed atleast 10. It took alot of finesse to get these fish to hit because they were way off the bite. Some of the bucs were really humped up and in full spawn mode.

I gave a few guys some pointers and gave one poor guy a fish he looked pretty down and out about not catching anything. The only guy i was a jerk to was a snagger. I saw him snag 2 fish and run off with them. When i walked by him on my way out he wanted to see what i had been using but i gave him the cold shoulder. Also picked up alot of nice gear stuck in the rocks down in the tidal area. A good day.

Righteous. With batting percentages like yours, you might want to call the Mariners and tell them they could use your skills.

how do you fish the 50/50?

Like you would with a corkie setup but have it tied on instead?

I run mainline to a 3-way swivel, then a 6 to 8 inch dropper (weight), and 2 or 3 foot leader to the dick nite. Then i cast just upstream and let it bounce down until it hits the end of the swing and then reel in slowly. Sometimes i will cast upstream and then start reeling in but very slowly.
