Decided to get out early and hit the river on the way to work. I fished the bank near the Boeing plant. The security guys don't really come around until late morning to clear out the guys parking in the lot, so I will fish it from about 6:30 to 8:30 and head out.

I started off throwing everything I typically use for pinks, spoons, spinners, jigs, all in hot pink color. Didn't have a bite even though they were jumping and rolling like crazy.

Decided to switch to a brass/silver spoon, and immediately go 1 for 3. The third I didn't get a look at because it just ran and ran. I had the drag set pretty good, so this one definitely had some weight/strength behind it.

The bite died after that, so switched to a PM spinner in that reflective green color and pulled in another.

The bite died again, so I went to a gold/red Little Cleo and pulled in another.

They seemed to hit whenever I put something new out there, so I just started tying on something new after a couple fish.

I was the only one catching that day, there were about 5/6 other folks out there, but nobody seemed to catch on that pink wasn't the hot color this day.

All fish were released in the water, didn't bring them on shore or anything,

Glad that the adjustments you made paid off. Was is a Dick Nite spoon?

no it wasn't a Dick night, though I heat those are popular. I'm not sure what brand it was, my dad gave me a couple last year for steelhead, but never got around to using them. they are kind of heavy and dimpled. I haven't seen them around at sportco so not sure where he got them.

I believe there is some kind of bait restriction through the end of August, but I believe the river is open at least to the end of December. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but that is the way I interpreted the regs.

Heavy and dimpled sounds like a 50/50 rvrfshr spoon. those are popular for steelhead
