I met up with Str8line and his son this morning for an excursion on the Nisqually for kings in his sled. We used eggs and divers without any catching. A drift boat we saw was doing a little catching and as we were leaving they showed us their catch of pinks. One male was about 10 pounds. It was the biggest pink I have ever seen. I had tried jigging with a heavier jig for the kings (just a few minutes). So I tied on a DPS 5 ΒΌ oz (minus the trailer hook) and began casting out and twitching at the launch while they loaded the boat up. I did hook one but it got off at the shore while they were bringing me the net.
Water temp was 56, air temp was very cool. We wore jackets all morning and at times could see our breath. Even though it was sunny and going to be 80 or higher. The water visibility was about 2 foot. Low tide was 10:24 am. We fished by the launch through River Bend Campground and upriver. The flow at Mckenna was 415 CFS.
We were there from 6-10:30am.
