Headed to the Kanaskat-Palmer State Park immediately after work on a beautiful Monday. Brought my Fly rod & reel for some trout but also brought my steelhead/salmon setup just in case those trout weren't biting. When I arrived, I was the only person there. Started out with the fly setup just to see if I could sneak up on some, no luck. Did see some salmon so I opted for my 'big fish" setup. 5th cast using a pink with gold blade Roostertail and hooked up on a nice 36 inch 15 lb. steelhead. Fought me for a good 5 minutes. Luckily it was a keeper and now it's time for fish tacos. Right after I landed my keeper another guy showed up. I let him take my spot and walked back to my ride with a huge smile. Next time I'll bring a garbage bag since the shopping bags were too small to fit the entire fish. Not a bad problem to have!!

That is one great looking fishing spot up there. Looked at it on Google Maps. Were you fishing the pools or the rocks?

Ya, I didn't weigh it. So I always error on the larger size. Went up there yesterday and caught another in the same spot. Going back today for the lucky 3 fur...

Pools mostly. But there is one really nice rock with a deep channel next to it where I caught both fish.
