Took my brother-in-law out this morning to try for some coho around the Tukwilla area. We arrived aroung 7:30AM at the top of the incoming, just as the morning bite was peaking. I brought along 4 different kinds of cured eggs, and we tried all of them through out the morning.The silvers were everywhere, but we couldn't buy a bite. Around 9AM I switched over to a Dick Nite, while my brother-in-law continued drifting eggs. 5 cast later, I hooked up with a silver hen. Noticed the fish were blushing up, from being in the lower river too long. The very next cast, I hooked a little chrome buck. After that, there was a 40-min lull where the fish activity ceased. Following an unsuccessful drift, I noticed a wind knot in my spool as I was reeling in. I made a cast downstream in hopes of getting to the knot, so I could clear it. After clearing the knot, I slowly started to reel in when my rod tip nosedived. Initially I thought I had foul hooked a boot pink, because it wasn't jumping or running like a silver. As it got closer I realised it was a big blushed up buck silver, hooked right in the mouth. It finally started going ballistic as it saw the net, but I was finally able to subdue it. Having limited out, I waited for my brother-in-law to catch some fish, but he eventually gave up. Gave him one of my fish, because I felt bad for him. Gonna hit it again tomorrow morning.
