We arrived at the lake around 3:00 pm. The three of us were taking my old but new to me boat out on her maiden cruise. Neither one of us had ever owned or operated a boat before, but that didn't stop us. I took the honors of backing her in to the lake, she slid off the trailer clean as a whistle. I drove off to park mighty proud of how quick and smooth things seemed to be going. As I walked back down to the boat my father-in-law Jim, yelled out next time we should put the plug in the boat don't you think. I looked in to the bow of the boat and saw my bottle of water floating around with my pack of ritz crakers in about a foot of water. We had to pull the boat back out and let her drain out the water, Then put in the plug and re launch her. Quite embarassing to say the least. By the way we were entertaining about twenty people who were fishing off the bank at the launch.
Things did start getting better as the day went on. Jim caught and released the first fish within 30 mins of fishing. Within the next hour and a half we both had caught and released our limits. The biggest fish was maybe 12" nothing to brag about. The funny thing was my friend corey was fishing the same lure as I was and not even a bite. we were sure that he was the one who had caused all the bad luck from early on until i noticed that he was only trolling his lure about 15 feet off the back of the boat. As soon as he let out another 50' of line wam he had is first fish, typical 8" stocker. He caught and released his limit for the day within the next 30 mins. Overall not a bad day of fishing at all. I can't wait to get back out there again, and this time I will remember to put in the plug.
