Hit the Skykomish river above Monroe. Fishing started slow but picked up just as a couple early fisherman left. I was swinging a 50/50 wee dick nite with no luck but moved into a new spot and switched to a frog pattern dick nite. A couple casts into the change I missed a light hit but was ready on my next cast and hooked this nice chrome hatchery hen. Included my favorite setup in the photo....9'6" Lamiglas certified pro X96JC with a Revo STX HS-L. 10 pound hi-vis Izor mainline with 10 lb Maxima clear leader. A few other fish caught around me but all had some color to them ranging from a hint of pink to some full-blown fire trucks so I felt lucky to get this chrome beauty. Saw a nice small chum caught and released so they are starting to show. Tight lines!

Equipment preferences are very personal and what worked for you at the right time seems to last a long time. I was a very long time spinning fisherman who decided to visit the other side a couple years ago. My first baitcaster was a Shimano Citica which taught me that I could survive and enjoy baitcasting. I never tried a Curado but tried an Abu Garcia Revo STX next based on other angler's reviews which really impressed me and I am hooked. I need to try a Curado but somehow the Revo has fit my needs so far and I have been very lucky with it in regards to casting distances and its resistance to fatal backlashes. I used to always bring a backup spinning setup but now I can bring my Citica and Revo and never feel I will lose any fishing time and I seem to enjoy the fun and benefits of a baitcasting setup. Sometimes old dogs can learn new tricks.
