Well, my dad and I went to the Satsop after making several stops at Minter and Kennedy lookin for something to catch. No fish at Minter yet, few fish at Kennedy but we didn't want to get all muddy, so we chose to run to the Satsop and possibly get a late chrome coho. We got to "the spot" at around 9:30 am with frost still on the ground. walked down to the gravel bar and a couple of guys had some fish on. We moved up river and started throwing out the lines. Literally first drift through a deeper pool and boom. Got a bump, set the hook, and fish on! Jumped out of the water and saw nothing but tiger stripes! The Satsop is full of chum! Even if you can't keep them, they are fun to catch! We proceeded to have a 60 fish day of catch and release between my dad and I. Even got a chance to bring the fly rod out because it was so full! No chrome coho, 1 dark coho, but a ton of chum all of which were caught and released un-harmed.
