12/9/2011 8:06:00 AMI like raw unpeeled prawns in the larger sizes so I can cut them into 3 pieces of bait. A quarter pound will give you a day or more of fishing so it is fairly economical. Safeway and QFC have them on sale frequently. They are deadly for chum by tipping the jig and I use them for steelhead when driftfishing. I have done just about as well with them as sandshrimp and they can be reused over several fishing outings unlike sandshrimp. I also use eggs and sandshrimp for steelhead because changing up is important when things are slow or unproductive. I won't go chum fishing without prawns(where legal)....they seem to really up my chances.
