Finally decided to see what all the fuss was about up at Reiter. I usually head south or to the coast for my fishin, but I got a homie who lives up north so Reiter it was. Got there just before sunrise and it was packed. Saw one small fish caught on the way to the end of the combat line. And one being hauled out across the river on the highway side. We got skunked but we also didn't stay for long (2hrs). It was nice to take my 10 yr old out to a place that he could cast and actually have a chance of getting some steel. Oh well, we'll get em' next time. On a side note, steelhead Fishin produces some of the grumpiest dudes on the planet ... I mean this place is packed, you don't have many options and as soon as you get set up and start casting you start getting the stink eye... I know this is sad but, I've pretty much been a combat fisherman my whole river Fishin life... So extra company doesn't bother me. As a matter of fact, I get excited because if someone's catching fish I know that they're in there! And I really believe i have a chance! It beats standing around all day not seeing any action... But that's just me I guess... If I wanted to get away from people, I wouldn't go to one of the most notorious meat holes in the NW... I'd go fish the upper skagit, or the Stilly.
