1st time out for 2012 so I decided to hit unfamiliar territory.
Got the the 7400 bridge at 7am, rain, 35 degrees and a line of drift boats ready to launch.
Above the bridge is selective gear/no bait. Flipped a coin - downstream it was.
Between 7am and noon I fished my way downstream (some bushwhacking too) about 1/2 mile.
Had three rigs with me, float & jig, float & eggs, & spoon. Most of the river along this section is flat and pretty much level, so I just fished grids at about 15' each. I would fish my way about 50 yards downstream with one, then walk back & fish the other, then back and the 3rd.
Only had one takedown on a jig the whole day, must've been a smolt or sucker cause when I set the hook I had to duck as my gear flew back at me. While I was out I saw fog, sun, rain, wind, snow, hail, & sleet.
Stopped at the pullouts at Wynoochie Wishkah Rd and Blackcreek on my way out, threw casts under the bridges for good measure and to see what the boats were bringing in. I didn't ask anybody, but only saw 3 fish and a bunch of cold/wet boaters. Think it was a slow day all the way around from what I saw.
Still nice to get out though!
