Gill Nets ! are still out on the Pend O'reille river north of Tacoma Creek. Last year at this time my friend and I were having 30 to 40 fish days on Pike. Yesterday was not one of them, only had two hits and lost one. Did not see one trailer all day long. The fish I landed had net burns on it. Very disappointing to see the pike fishing crashing as fast as it has in the last year. Main river temp was 49-50 Degrees is what my temp gauge showed.
The Sloughs were ranging from 54-60 degrees, depending on where you were. Caught two large mouth also and released all fish. Don't plan on fishing up there for pike anytime soon. Will go to Idaho for that ! What they need now is a big derby to help reduce more Pike ! oooops !
Good Luck to all you fisherman. Note (Picture off phone didn't turn out well, looks bigger then it was.)

That would be funny if it wasn't so sad....... On a positive note: There won't be any long lines at the boat ramp there for at least a decade or so. No fish, no fisherman dollars to the area! That county chamber of commerce really f*&+$#d up.........

I love my new home state (WA) but the fishing is really disappointing. Miss the big Flatheads and Stripers down south. ALso didnt have these regulations, gillnets, and fighting that we do up here.

Thanks for the report, bummer to see the pike fishing has tanked. I made multiple trips last summer from the Seattle area. I will be back fishing Idaho now and skipping the river. The Pend Oreille is gorgeous country but I can't justify the trip on the scenery alone

Well I am just glad that I got to enjoy the Pike fishing on the Pend Oreille 2 years ago right before it tanked because it was certainly a winner! Now I just go to Canada, Idaho, Montana or anywhere in the Midwest to find trophy Pike Waters and spend my money where DNR's actually appreciate fishing and care about anglers and the future ahead. Oh, well, guess this just gives me another excuse to find new waters in Idaho and further East to fish. Well I guess sometimes like the old saying goes, "You have to venture out to the unknown to find what you are looking for"!!! Anyone ever wants to hit me up for teaming up to go to Idaho or Montana, give me a shout.

Nate
