Took the boyfriends family out in the Willie for free fishing weekend on the Cowlitz at Bluecreek. We tried a few different things, yarnies mainly, and also drifted EZ-Eggs and some corkies and cheaters. LOTS of trout in the river! We had a hard time getting through them to the steelhead, but at least it was something, and not totally getting skunked. We ended up with 2 fish in the boat Saturday a 30" hatchery buck on EZ-Eggs and a green cheater, and a 35" hatchery buck on a pink yarnie. Sunday we lost another really nice fish right at the boat when the leader broke, some guys backtrolling divers and bait caught it later that day with our yarnie still in it's mouth.

All in all it was great weather with good company and a few fish. Quiet a few more hits but couldn't get anything to stick. We'll definitely be back, the Summers are just starting to file in. Next time I'm bringing the divers and some bait, those were the guys producing the most fish. (There weren't very many boats on the water at all, was a nice change from the last time I was on the river)
