Went after work, started fishing about 3:30 and 20 mins. Later thought I had snagged into some old line, strated to reel in real hard, didnt feel no head shake but line comming in slow, 15 ft from me jumps about 15 lbs Chinook, it take me for a little ride and about 3 mins into the play I decide to thighten the drag, as I was thigtgening the drag I knew it was game over, you know what it feels like when you go limp. Anyway it was great to get my new Fennwick rod bent first time this year. I did learn something, don't change that drag till you have control of that fish, don't want to have that limp feeling again

Nice to have the first hookup of the season. Too bad it came unbuttoned. Had the same thing happen last season during the Pinks. Thought I was snagged until the 20-25 lbs King broke the surface. It was a wild ride for about 30 seconds until it jumped again and spit the hook. Think my adrenaline was pumping for about three days after that!!

When I get fish running real hard zipping my line and I want to slow it down a little more I apply a little pressure to my reel with my hand keeps me from over tightening it.

Where were you fishing at? The furthest down I have been is behind safeway.

Forget adjusting the drag after you hook a fish, just use your thumb if you really need a little extra.
