Hit the Puyallup for a few hours after work today. Fished at the 5th St bridge. It is still pretty slow, but I did catch one beautiful 6-7 lbs wild Coho buck (sorry no pictures this time). Decided to let it go even though I could have kept it. Hope he makes it up river to progenerate. Hooked up a couple more times, but the fish self released. Guy next to me hooked two kings back to back, but lost both of them after a short fight. He followed one of them all the way down to the end of the gravel bar and lost it in the pool below. Not sure how big it was cause it never surfaced, but it must have been pretty big the way it dragged him down river!! Plan to go back on Friday. Looking forward to hooking my first King of the season. Tight lines!

I read your post earlier last week about switching to red and I took your advice, the only problem was I must have got my pre-tied leaders wet and the UV red yarn that i used had bled red coloring on my leaders and all of my clear leaders turned red! I was pissed. I think I have figured out how to keep that from happening, but just a heads up be careful because the UV red dye likes to run when wet. Seems like you have been having some success under the bridge, I have been fishing by the soccer fields and may have to give your spot a try. tight lines!

@b.gagne22 - Sorry to hear about your leaders. I've never had UV yarn bled like that. The red and black combo is still producing good results. Another excellent combo for the Puyallup is chartreuse yarn with orange corkies. The fishing is definitely still a little slow, but I can't complain I've touched at least a couple fish each time I've been out the past week! Looking forward to the pull of that first King. Tight lines!
