First chum I've heard of this year..

chums have been in since before labor day weekend, ps you are not suppose to target the chum, they are a protected species and if you are caught purposely fishing for them and or taking them out of the water, it can be a really pricy day.

there were schools of 'em out in the bay still too ... the wife (pretty new to the salt) got all excited after chase'n silver all morn'n and a school of dogs went bye .... i love that country up there and silvers on a trout rod bout cant be beat ... we had a great trip up there .... remembered everything and got up there for sunrise ... only prob was ... i caught boated 'n bonked my 1st fish (sooo proud chest stick'n out 'n stuff) and then realized i was down to my last punch on my card !!!! ... OM (EDITED) .... can you say out of the game .... lordy .... o well with the wifes limit 'n some shell fish it was a good haul 'n the 'ol lady had a blast ... lonnggg drive home after only a few hours on the water tho

I was definitely not targeting chum. I was fishing a deep hole that just happened to hold some. But thanks for the info, it does not say that anywhere in the regs. I don't think with all the snaggers down there I would have looked mischievous with my manufactured barbless hooks and ten pound line.

I was up there the other day and it was near impossible to avoid the chum... Got 1 silver on bobber and jig after 8 hours of trying.. maybe 20 chum hooked on the same setup.. just too many of them.. will not be goin back there this year because its to hard to avoid the chum.. You gotta love the setup of the trebble hook with the lead wrapped around it that I saw there.. Where are the game wardens when you need them.
