Took my dad to 112th to try to get him on a Coho. Next time it'll be cheaper to go to the fish market.
Arrived at 9:30a. Tide was dropping. Fish were not jumping. Saw one caught fairly soon after. My dad is not an experienced drift fisherman, so spent the first hour snagging, losing, and retying rigs. I let him use my drift rod, so was making due with my old bass spinning gear that is running 30# braid. Cost me two dick nites to realize that I was not marrying my mono leader to the braid correctly. Costly lesson. Guess I forgot that knot. Finally figured that out and proceeded to catch nothing. Switched my dad to a float with eggs to get him off the bottom and salvage what was left of my pre-tied leaders. I tried drifting eggs, corkie and yarn, & spoons and casting spinners & spoons with only a couple hits to show for it. Dad wasn't getting anything on the eggs, so switched him to jigs. Nothing.
Gave up at 1:30 after the tide had turned and the water started rising. Saw a few hooked and lost and a couple hooked and landed.
A lesson in frustration.
