Oh, this getting old. Got to 112th at 10am. Tide was on it's way out. Lots of people fishing. Saw two caught as I was walking in. Thought "this is going to be a great day." Started the first cast by somehow wrapping my line around the first eye of my pole after the cast. Had to pull my line in by hand and then the line snapped where it had been wrapped around the eye of the pole....still not sure how it happened, but lost about 30 yards of line.......Ok, still got plenty of line left, so rerigged. Guys next to me proceeded to catch a couple drifting corkie and yarn while I was fruitlessly throwing spinners. The drifters across from me hooked up a couple too, so switched to corkie and yarn. Nothing. Moved up river a bit and got hung up about the time by wife and kids showed up. They waded down through the mud to join me. I snapped off my corkie and yarn and tied on my green spinner so my wife could fish. Second cast she got hung up and I had to snap it off. 'DOH.
Got her setup with another spinner and then my kids with snacks to keep them busy for 5 minutes then rigged my float rod with some eggs. For the next two hours I used up $5 in eggs. Fortunately my wife didn't lose any more hardware, but we tried most of the spinners and spoons in my bag. Nothing. The natives came up and put the nets in right at noon. I'll leave it at that.
We tried fishing until 1pm. Nothing but muddy kids to take home. Saw a few caught and a few taken out. Really slowed down after the nets went in. Still waiting on my stellar day.
