Hit the Chehalis Monday, didn't hook any kings(of course not, since we could keep them today!).We did take two chrome silvers, one 10 lbs., the other around 5 or 6.Great fights, lost another that went airborne and popped leader, having trouble keeping these productive lures, between snags, berserk silvers and low amounts of hot patterns in stores.
Better day then yesterday as far as dangerously rude boat operators trying to swamp us by driving by at 15 or 20 yards away at full throttle, they don't like small boats or competition.Real pieces of work, need to bring some ammo.(rocks? rotten eggs?Short of bringing a shotgun I just don't know what will impress these A-Holes.)Obviosly they are not concerned with others safety, I will be posting names of guides that do this, hopefully no-one from this forum will patronize these types of jerks.Tight lines to all, Bob r

Bob, I have had the same problem on the Snohomish river.Last time I was there a few weeks ago it was crowded and the larger boats were cruising by at high speed real close when they did not have to. Last year I saw drag boats intentionally buzz a fishing boat that was anchored near the river bank, he got up and threw something at the drag boats, then he held up something that looked like a gun.I think it was his fish club. They also buzzed me a few times, I was pulling my boat out when the drag boat were pulling out and I could smell booze on the pilots. there was an Everett parks cop there and I told him of the rowdy Everett and his only comment was "arent the boats cool" What do you do at that point? I never thought about posting the names of the guide boats.
Which lures are you finding productive? Nice fish, thanks for the report, Scott

You need to call the sherrif and report the boat's numbers and if they are a guide, report that as well.

Those a-holes are everywhere!! I will be out there this wknd with you. And we definitely have an ass load of rotten eggs from our chicken farm. Lol. I will start constructing an egg sling shot today :) I don't understand why so many people just can't figure it out. Safety is a huge thing and it's just plain disrespectful. Hopefully I can control my temper as I will have my kids with me this wknd to get their first shot at a king. Good idea on the guide boats. They should be setting better examples.

Strider43, the cops are getting lazier and lazier. Our tax dollars hard at work. I walked up to one outside my work yesterday and let him know I thought I heard gunshots the night before. He told me I should call 911 and rolled his window up on me as he hid his computer screen from me. Probably looking at Facebook or something. I did call 911 and nobody showed up to question me......

Nice fish once again though Bob!! You are making it hard to not just shut down and head on out! My buddy said he has been working the mouth of the Chehalis in Aberdeen I believe behind the Walmart, trolling circles and just killing them! Triangle flasher and cut plug working the bottom and mid depths.
Thanks for the report!!

Another nice-sized coho! As for the boaters I can fully understand full throttle in skinny or shallow water for planing but the background in your photos would think you have good reason to not be too happy with them so that's unfortunate. On the positive side you are landing beautiful fish with weather to match and sharing it with someone :-) Nice job both of you.

It is unfortunate that courteous boaters have to put up with the chumps, but they are probably alcohol fueled (and I dont mean there engines). I agree with others: get the ID numbers and/or guide names or any other identifying info and forward it to not only the local enforcement but post it on this website and facebook it as well. Public embarrassment goes a long ways to helping deal with the boneheads. And its not just there,,,its drunks everywhere.

I cannot speak for those boaters as I wasn't one of them but my boat puts out a lot larger wake at slower speed than when I am on a plane. I try to keep as much distance as possible from other boaters as possible. I actually prefer if people just stay on a plane as when you are slowing down your wake will really be the worst as the bow dipping will cut a much larger wake. In a river it can be tricky to navigate depending on where a person is if they are in a tailout you have no choice but to stay on a plane. I am not defending them because they may have had plenty of room to go around you from a further distance. Nice fish though, hopefully the rains will come soon so us upstream can get in on the action.

Unfortunately most of the problems we have come from jerks who cut between our boat and another when we are only 25 yrds. apart with plenty of river, as far as different boats throwing out more wake slow then fast I'll buy that with sleds but anything with a deep v-hull needs to slow down before they get to small boats. Most operators we have problems with don't look ahead on a crowded river and will come around a bend at full throttle not knowing what was already there (say a small boat trolling along or a stopped boat with a fish on or a problem they have had to stop for) and feel that if you can't deal "with the big boys" stay off the river, well, we are NOT going anywhere, the canoe we use is plenty safe for the river, if other boats are the problem they need to adjust their behavior or there will be problems. Most of them seem to be guides looking to get somewhere in a hurry at others expense or guys with too much boat for their attitude that feel if they have to slow down they are being inconvenenced. If that's how you feel go to the Cowlitz where that behavior is proudly flown. Bob R

The boating debate would be better served being moved to the forum. Remember, if you post a fishing report and someone posts a comment you don't like, all you have to do is click "delete" in the upper right corner of that person's comment. We added that feature specifically to allow members to be able to post reports without having to deal with negative comments. Just delete them.
