Went to Pine Lake for some trout fishing today. Arrived at 7:00 am to see no other boats, and about 15 people on the pier. It was raining at first, but then it tapered off and was a nice day!! More boats came around 8:00am to 9:00am. A lot of Pontoon boats and float tubers. Everyone seemed to be catching fish. Some guys on the pier had their five, and most people on the boats were doing catch and release. Fly Fisherman were doing well too. We trolled all over the lake getting bites everywhere, so you didn't have to stay in a certain place to stay with them. Trolled Dick Nites, Wedding Rings, Kastmasters, Flatfish and Hot Shots , running them from 3-10 feet deep. We released all 13 fish or so we caught in about 3 and a half hours time. Had many other bites as well. Fish ranged from
9-11 inches, average around 10. Some were fat too. We went into the shallow bay to the immediate left from the boat launch and were just rowing around trying to find the perch and panfish we have fun with in the summer, and as we pulled into the big patch of lily pads we see a huge Largemouth just cruising in about 4 feet of water. I am not a bass fisherman but I would say it might have gone 8 pounds but definitely over 6 pounds. I couldn't get my pole in the water in time, I was in awe of its size. I tried to catch some bass with a Chartruese Spinnerbait for about 20 minutes just casting around the lily pads with no luck. I would like to try some bass fishing there. Some guy was using a topwater lure and said he had got a lot of action including some 2 pounders (smallmouth). Good Luck!!
