I've been skunked for two weeks on the Green (Seems like the nets took all the fish away in th lower river) so I went in search of new water Sat. Drove down Highway 2. The Snoh. and the Sky looked a little high so I decided to fish the Wallace. Lots and Lots and Lots of people fishing. I decided to try the hatchery. 90% of people were fishing eggs. I, of course, didn't have any eggs. Still, I saw very few people catching fish. The fish I did see caught were very dark. I talked to a guy at the hatchery that said these are the fish that have been waiting for a month for the rains to come. I walked a bit and found a nice 100 yard stretch with no one on it. I tried spoons and blue foxes, but nothing. I think the fish were too spooked. I tryed my new jigs (Thanks for the video Jim). Nothing. I then switched to a float with a small jig underneath. Four casts later, bam! Steelhead, really nice and bright. Carefully released it and sent it on it's way. I most of gotten my reel wet, because soon after it seized up on me pretty bad and I had to shut it down for the day. Fall is in the air up there. The snow line was only about 1000 feet above. Tight Lines!
