10/25/2012 3:25:00 PM@Danaublatt - I'm in the same situation as you... I'm still trying this jig thing.... worried it might have to wait until next year.

Earned myself a couple bucks at lunch today....Coho bucks. Went 2/2 on the Chartrugly II (first one has been beat to heck). Hit the 112th right at noon. No one there and the tide was coming in. Nets were heavy below the bridge and there was a lot of debris in the water. Thought of not even trying, but figured since I was already there....
Fished for 20 minutes with the Jailbait Jig without any hits and saw zero fish surface. About that time I saw a very large log floating up the river that was going to pass right in front of me, so I figured if I was going to hook a fish it'd be right when that log was in front of me as that would be the best way to tangle and loose a catch. I switched out my jig to the old reliable and cast in front of the log without result. Decided to change my twitching technique and as the log passed I dropped my jig behind it. Two light twitches later and WHAMO. Nice fighting chromer. Made some good runs, but fortunately the log had moved too far upriver for it to present a problem and in the end the fish got bonked. I could have left happy right there....but I didn't. I roped my fish off, retied my jig as the mono was a bit chewed up from the first (see, I've learned something). Tossed it back out and on the first twitch it got hammered. It got drilled so hard and ran so quick that I thought I'd hooked the infamous Chum.....but it turned out to be a colored up Coho about the same size as the first. It was a fighter and made some serious death rolls sufficiently tangling itself in my line. It took me three attempts to get it in the net as I would just get it in the loop and it would manage to thrash and jet out again....I'd attracted a small crowd on the bridge, so must have been a comical sight, but apparently not entertaining enough as no one tossed any coins my way. In the end this Coho got bonked too, so guess that was my payout . Fished for about another 10 minutes thinking I might limit, but had to run, so took a quick pick, gutted 'em and back to work. In spite of the nets I had a good lunch.
