Well, another stellar report for this week on the Skykomish! We've been catching hard fighting chum and feisty coho every day out. With the river conditions the way they are, we've been finding bright coho that have still been coming up late. These chum are hard hitting big, hitting hard and fighting even harder and filling the time in between coho with nonstop action.
Floats and jigs have been the ticket lately, with swung flies making these chum even more fun! A float and roe has been picking up the odd winter steelhead which are starting to show their presence more and more, which bodes well for the November push of steelhead that will be coming soon.
Flows have been steady and the weather hasn't been too bad. Fishing pressure has been steady, but if you put in the time to explore a little, you can get yourself on top of a bucketload of fish with no one around. The bite has been steady all day, which makes for an eventful trip.
We've still got a couple weeks of coho action on the Skykomish and the surrounding area, so if you'd like to get out and catch some fish it's a great time to get some practice in time for winter steelhead fishing. I've got a few dates open, so send me a line and we'll get you set up.
We're going to start focusing on the SW and coastal systems as the coho up here start to slow down, and I'll be booking trips down there as well. Now is a great time to book a trip to get on some fish on an excursion to new water. Let me know and we'll set you up for an exciting time on the rivers. As always, tight lines and I'll see you on the water!
