I have never floated the skagit before so after doing some research i decided to float from Marblemount to Rockport.

We mostly pulled plugs threw a few slots, a "mcrib" tadpolly and a blue brads wiggler. starting right below the cascade. my buddy barely got the first pole "mcrib" out and it doubled over and started screaming off line. Probably a 6# summer run buck, little to dark for our taste so after a quick battle he went back. Fished a few more slots down to swift creek. we fished there for about an hr. throwing jigs under floats, green and purple. got a few chum, including a MONSTER buck! Not knowing how long it was gonna take to float we left that hole and switched to eggs under a float targeting dollys. C&r'ed a dozen or so on our way down the river.

Wasnt a super fishy trip but we floated past alot of water. and seen 14, yes 14 bald eagle all in one spot. was the most awesome thing i had ever seen fishing. we pulled out at rockport by 1pm. I think friday we are gonna float it again and hit it a little bit harder, super eassy float.

So can I ask what you estimate the entire float would take without stopping? By road Mapquest shows, 10 miles, but at 20k CFS I imagine the drift isnt too slow.
Did you even see any white water or trees to avoid?
I would like too try that float as well, but am rather new on the oars.

I saw a drift netter in between Hamilton and Lyman today and he had at least 5 CHROMERS in his net on one drift. Is it legal?

You can drift from marblemount to sutter creek too or from sutter to rockport a lot shorter so more time to focus on holes, except sutter is a little rough so check it out before trying it.
Was the summer run a hatchery, cause I didn't think they release summer run smolts in the skagit or cascade, maybe a stray.

Actually there also appears to be a take out at Conrad Rd. that might only be 7 miles, Still now sure how long that would take. I would likely spent more time just down river from the cascade. Thanks

from marblemount to sutter takes like 5-6 hours and that includes taking time at the eddies and big bends but it is mostly plug water anyways.
What color is mcrib?

it tooks us 5 and a half hours, and that was with working some water. its a super fast float. and really easy. there was maybe one spot i had to row hard. no hidden rocks or anything. that summer run was a native. it mihgt have been a dark b-run fish but i doubt it.

yeah sutter is before swift creek, is about half way point to rockport. A really quick float is from sutter creek to rockport with some decent slots but the jet sled guys work that area though.
