Fished Skookumchuck for the first time this year on the way home from a trip to the coast. Still very early for skookumchuck steelhead but ive got some pretty sweet holding spots miles and miles downriver from the hatchery (nate showed me these, thanks buddy) and we hit them and found fish in multiple places, all chrome bright fresh steelhead headed upriver! We didnt find a monster, but some nice bright fish, hopefully it will have fish this year (unlike many other places so far...) We used eggs, and i caught one on a plug, backtrollling it by holding my rod out over the sweet spot by standing on a log, the take almost pulled me into the damn river!
